Should i give varric the idol

It is obvious from Meredith and Bartrand that the idol, even a piece of it, can easily corrupt anyone with it in possession and you see Varric fall to its allure a bit as well when he is holding. What really drives my decision not to is Anders, in this case the mage is very much the voice of reason.

Then if you take him again in Haunted, Anders will again mention that the shard is dangerous and he supports not giving it to Varric.
